Story

I’m trying to raise £5,000 to ensure the future of the Start Up Bursary at Yarndale that Amanda Bloom was instrumental in creating, in memory of her beloved daughter Jenny Machin.

Amanda was passionate about crafting and supported fellow makers at every turn through her own businesses. She had a particular interest in ‘kitchen table creators’ and used her platform to provide opportunities to young creative businesses to help them gain exposure and grow. It seems a fitting tribute to them both that we try to continue this initiative in Amanda and Jenny’s names for as long as we can.

Amanda had been a huge supporter of Yarndale since its concept. . Yarndale is two day creative festival that celebrates all things woolly and wonderful, held annually in Skipton, North Yorkshire. It brings together a wide variety of exhibitors, including makers and creators, craft workers and artisans to showcase and sell their yarn, threads, textiles and more. The event aims to inspire creativity and provide a platform for sharing skills and ideas related to yarn and handmade crafts. To us makers and creators it is the highlight of our year and has become our mecca!

I know Amanda would be delighted to see the Amanda Bloom & Jenny Machin Start Up Bursary continue into the future.
