Story
Cancer in Turkey
Turkey has a population of 78.6 million citizens and very year 0.23% of the total population people will be diagnosed with cancer.
Between 400-500 of those people will live in Fethiye - these people may feel fit and healthy today but will have been diagnosed with one of the 200 types of cancer by this time next year.
In Fethiye we only have one Oncology department at the Fethiye Devlet (State) Hospital. This department offers a limited range of service to a community of more than 160,000 people.
The money raised in the 2015 to 2019 events has provided equipment for the Fethiye State Hospital Oncology department and is helping cancer sufferers receive life saving treatment.
An Extraordinary 2020 Yaşam İçin Yarış (Race For Life Turkey)
2020 has been a very different year to the one we were all expecting. Whilst the Covid-19 pandemic has meant people around the globe have put their lives on hold, cancer hasn’t stopped!
We still have people we are helping to receive cancer treatment and we need to continue to raise money as this treatment can't stop.
This year, we can’t come together in a physical event but that’s not going to stop us.
From Monday 26th October to Sunday 1st November Fethiye will be holding an Extraordinary 2020 Yaşam İçin Yarış
Run, walk or jog an Extraordinary 2020 Yaşam İçin Yarış during this week. Map out 5km from your home - along the seafront, around the streets where you live or round your garden, anywhere you choose is fine - and away you go.
All we ask is that those taking part, share it online with #Extraordinary2020YasamIcinYaris and fundraise or make a donation to enable us to continue to help those undergoing treatment for cancer.
If you would like to help us continue to help fight cancer in Fethiye, please make a donation and help us to save lives.
If you are making a donation for a specific person or fundraising activity, please add a comment with details when you make your donation.
Thank you!
