Story

Hello friends, family, and strangers-off-the-internet,

Thank you so much for coming to my JustGiving page! On 15th September 2019 I will be running the Richmond Half Marathon. On the 25th September 2019 I will be turning 30.

If you feel inclined to give me a birthday present or are suitably impressed that I took up running this year, look no further! All I want you to do is donate what you can.

I am raising money for the Fairtrade Premium for Fairtrade Gold miners. The guys at Fairtrade were super lovely and took this picture when I went to visit them at IJL.

The Fairtrade Premium is an extra sum of money on top of the price of that farmers and workers receive for their product (in this case, gold) that is paid to Fairtrade producer organisations. These organisations then decide how they want to use the money, generally either to improve their businesses or for community projects such as building schools, water wells, etc.

Buying Fairtrade Gold makes a real difference to the lives of miners, their families and communities. Jewellery with the Fairtrade Gold Stamp is extra special. Buying it means you know the small-scale and artisanal miners were paid a fair price, giving them financial security. They also receive an extra amount of money to invest in building the future of their families and their communities, through education, medical care or environmental projects.

I would especially like to thank CRED Jewellery for facilitating this for me, you can read about their amazing work to support Fairtrade Gold communities here.

Anything you offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
