Story

Hi, My Batmitzvah is coming up on the 7th October and I am really looking forward to seeing you all then! My Batmitzvah falls on the festival of Sukkot and during Sukkot, we remember how the Jewish people were nomads, wandering the desert and we think about the importance of having shelter.

For my Batmitzvah, I have been learning with Rabbi Miriam from Finchley Reform Synaguge, about Sukkot and what it means to me. During this conversation I learnt of the inspiring charity that FRS synagogue host and support. The charity is called 'Together in Barnet' - it provides a Night Shelter in various locations, one of which is FRS synagogue, around Barnet, from October until March.

The Night Shelter is held once a week in the Finchley Reform synagogue hall. I have decided that I would like to do something to help this charity as it is relates to my Batmitzvah portion.

With that in mind, I would like to ask every family coming to my Batmitzvah to donate £5. With that money, I will purchase essential items from a list that the Night Shelter have provided me. I will go and buy all of the essentials, put together the packs and deliver them to FRS shul to provide comfort for the homeless during their stay.

This will include ear plugs, eye masks, wet wipes etc. With any money left over, I will also purchase weekly newspapers to deliver as well.

I am so excited to celebrating with you on the 7th and thank you in advance for helping me to support this wonderful charity.
