Story
On the 29th of July, Dave, Rob, and Nick will embark on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge.
The usual goal is to conquer the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 meters), Whernside (736 meters), and Ingleborough (723 meters) within a time limit of 12 hours, but our aim is to the complete it in 10 hours. All transport and accommodation will be sourced by us.
This will be dedicated to the memory of Little B & Charlie Weston and we will be raising funds for a wonderful charity named Making Miracles, who provide support to parents who have experienced birth trauma and/or baby bereavement.
Little B & Charlie’s story:
Little B was our (Dave and Liz’s) first baby. As soon as we found out we were expecting, the name Little B stuck. Sadly on 12th September 2021 at 12 weeks, we had a miscarriage and lost our little miracle.
For anyone that has experienced miscarriage, it’s a heartbreaking experience. It’s hard to believe that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, and often families struggle silently trying to cope with their loss.
Despite an infertility diagnosis, we couldn’t believe how lucky we were when we found out we were pregnant again in June 2022. We quietly hoped this time would be different, but during the 12 week scan, several abnormalities were found. After multiple tests, scans and consultations, our baby was diagnosed with Edwards’ Syndrome, a rare chromosomal abnormality, which meant our baby would either pass away during pregnancy, be stillborn, or survive for only a short while after birth.
Our beloved son, Charlie David Weston, came into the world sleeping at Medway Maritime Hospital on the 14th of September 2022. He was absolutely perfect.
This was when we were referred to Making Miracles. They have been a lifeline in our darkest days, providing us with support, counselling, access to a baby memorial garden and connecting us with other families who have experienced baby loss; they provide a safe space to grieve and remember our children. Their unwavering support made such a difference to us in the days, weeks and months after losing Charlie and they still support us today as we try to figure out how to navigate life without our children.
Those that work for the charity have all experienced their own trauma and loss, it really is incredible what they do to give back and how they support families. Throughout our journey, they have been a constant, for which we will forever be grateful – thank you Making Miracles.
We aspire to make as much as we can to continue supporting the work that they do, anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated so they can continue to support the many families experiencing the loss and heartbreak of losing a child.
In loving memory of our precious babies,
Dave & Liz
