Story

There are times in life when the world becomes heavier than any person should ever have to carry.

I have been exposed to moments that stayed in my mind long after they were over. Moments no human heart is built to hold. Slowly, those memories began to steal my sleep, my peace, and my sense of who I was. Eventually, the weight became so great that I almost didn’t survive it.

Living through that changed the way I see everything. It opened my eyes to how fragile people truly are, and how deeply we need understanding, patience, and kindness. It reminded me that every child and every adult experiences the world differently, and each way of experiencing is its own kind of language.

It took surviving that moment to understand how much we all need gentleness—real, human gentleness. And it made me see how far humanity has drifted from the softness we were born with.

Children arrive in this world naturally kind, curious, loving, and open. But as they grow, the noise of the world often pulls them away from that innocence, and too many of those natural blessings are dimmed by judgment, misunderstanding, and a world that has forgotten how to slow down and truly see one another.

Every day in England, an average of 12 men lose their lives to suicide. Around 4,300 men every year. That’s is one life lost to suicide every 2 hours!!

Your Light Matters exists to show every person that their life, their struggle, and their voice truly matters.

I am a community-led, non-profit movement dedicated to suicide prevention, awareness, and early intervention through:

• public memorial installations

• local support and outreach

• signposting to crisis lines and resources

• community education

• safe, supportive storytelling

• campaigns that help people speak up sooner

My first major project is The Field of 4,300 Lights.

I believe this will be a powerful project to help save men’s lives and raise awareness.

On Friday 13th March 2026 at The Isla Gladstone, Liverpool will be the first night we launch the project to bring the community together.

In a world flooded with adverts normalising gambling and substance risk, the messages that save lives are drowned out. I want to spread awareness and want to flip that to make support, visibility, and remembrance as public, as real, and as unavoidable as those adverts.

If society invests billions in promoting gambling and consumption, then it owes at least a fraction of that energy to preserving lives, hope, and mental-health support.

Your donation helps fund:

• The memorial lights

• Awareness materials

• Public signage

• Support resources

• Events and outreach

• Digital signposting tools

Everything raised goes directly toward saving lives, raising awareness, and helping people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Your Light Matters is a community-led, non-profit initiative focused on suicide prevention and awareness.

I am not a registered charity (yet), and all funds are used solely to support outreach, memorial installations, awareness campaigns, and signposting efforts.

Full transparency and updates on spending are shared publicly.

Any help from Businesses, charities, members of the public, celebrities would be welcomed to support me in building a national awareness and help improve suicide prevention and help towards the highlighted bullet points is more than welcomed.

Your Light Matters.

And because of you, someone else will realise theirs does too.

Thank you so much for your support.

Joe.
