Story
The International Mountain Running U18 Cup is the World’s premier competition for Under 18 Mountain Runners.
We are aiming to develop and inspire young people by bringing world class under 18 athletes to race over Loughrigg, a 335m high fell overlooking Lake Windermere. This event would take place on June 20th, 2020.
The cost to host the event will be around £40,000. The major costs are accommodation, food and transport to and from the venue from airports, with specialist race equipment, awards, media, athlete support/paramedic cover etc. adding to the cost. With race partners and sponsorship we're currently at £35,000.
This is a non-profit event with the aim of creating a fantastic weekend of junior fell running, with opportunities to see and meet the best young fell and mountain runners in the world competing in Ambleside.

5 years agoThe engagement with partners Epic Events, inov_8, Pete Bland Sports, Atkins Ferrie & Kong Running, plus support from this Just Giving page, means we have raised just over £23,000. Which is awesome. I’ve just returned from this years International U18 Cup in Susa, Italy both inspired and uplifted about the importance and significance of this event. Not just about the racing, also the friendships made across nationalities & borders that sport, especially in the spirit of the mountains, can foster. Ambleside next year...

5 years agoMany thanks for all the support. We are currently talking to 4 potential headline sponsors and 3 event partners. One partner, Epic Events, has already committed to cover the athletes accommodation costs for which we are, obviously, very grateful. As soon as other sponsors are confirmed I'll post here and on the website. I'd also like to thank Ambleside Parish Council for their support & positive encouragement.
