    Story

1 in 10 young people experience a mental health issue at any one time, those 16-24 suicide is the second most common cause of death, and a record number of children contacted Childline with suicidal thoughts in 2016/17. Record levels of young people are struggling. Academic pressure, social media, bullying, poverty, knife crime, gangs and youth violence and a lack of availability of professional mental health support – all have been named as contributing to this epidemic of poor mental health in our young people. It’s clear that young people are not getting the support they need. Youth Well being CIC is a social enterprise focused on working with young people upto 30 years of age to engage them in improving wellbeing and mental health by giving them the tools and coping strategies to access employment, education, training and most importantly live a positive life.
20 years experience of working with disadvantaged children, young people & families. I also have completed a degree in Youth Community and play studies and completed action research. I am an accredited Mental Health first aid instructor delivering accredited courses to qualify people aged over 16 years to be Mental Health First aiders. We want to make mental health as important as physical health, by increasing young peoples education around mental health and well being by delivering sessions that promote physical well being, emotional wellbeing, psychological wellbeing and spiritual wellbeing and also giving them the skills they need to fulfil their potential by gaining an accredited qualification in mental health that will not only benefit them personally, but also the community they live in and making them more employable. While raising awareness of well being and mental health by promoting an account of their journey. Using arts, music, spoken word, sport, yoga and meditation as a vehicle.

Support our mission to create a future where young people have positive mental health and wellbeing
