Team Ysbyty’r tri Chwm is running the Cardiff Half Marathon & fundraising for sensory garden at our hospital.

Ysbyty’r tri Chwm is a community hospital and base of Multidisciplinary Older adult Mental Health Team in the Borough of Blaenau Gwent. Within this hospital we have two inpatient wards which are adjoined by a shared garden.

We would like to develop this garden into a sensory therapeutic area. We would like to offer our patients the opportunity to engage in the therapy of positive touch, smell and activity in a calm and dementia friendly environment, tailored to the challenging needs of many of these individuals who may otherwise be restricted to the indoor environment of the ward.

With the growing number of Dementia diagnosed people in the community we feel we can significantly improve the experience of those people who need the enhanced care from our inpatient wards at our community hospital.
