Story

It appears that most people seem to think I will collapse on the first hurdle with this no drinking malarky!! I will do this!! I promised myself but now I want to make sure I prove a point so I have set up this fundraising page for the first challenge which is NON DRINKING and believe me this will be hard lol! I am also happy for peoples suggestions/challenges for me to undertake to try and help raise some funds to the Droitwich Aed project, and hopefully have one sited here at The Dovey in the future. Overall cost for one unit is approximately £1500 so ideally I would love this to be the overall target but will be realistic and start at a target of £500 to raise. Hoping all my family and friends will join me in supporting this cause and have a bit of fun along the way!

Please see DROITWICH AED page on facebook for more info on this fantastic community project

Below is a post taken from their page, interesting reading and makes you think!

There are over 146,000 Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests (OHCA) every year in the UK, over 80,000 are alone or in bed at night and are unfortunately long dead by the time they are found. Of the approximately 66,000 that are accompanied, and therefore potentially saveable, only about 2,500 survive to leave hospital due to oxygen starvation because of lack of prompt CPR and defibrillation.

Extrapolating that down to Droitwich, there are 65 OHCAs every year, and only between 1 and 3 survive.

If we now extrapolate this forwards in time: Sometime in the future about 6,000 of the current Droitwich residents will suffer a Cardiac Arrest and need a defibrillator to save their lives, over 5,000 of them will not be in hospital and therefore reliant an somebody getting an AED to them quickly enough to save them. If this doesn’t apply to any one particular individual, statistically it will apply to a family member or friend of theirs! That’s a very sobering thought!

Please share this to all family and friends, some of them will need one of our defibrillators one day!

Thank you for helping us help you save lives.
