    Story

Am 27 now and in 3 - 4 mouth i will be celebrating my 20th year of being cancer free, I am planing on organising a big event to celebrate my 20th year Post cancer by doing an Sky Diving event and I want to do this with few close family and friends raising some money for a charity that is very close to my heart Sheffield children's hospital charity, I am still here today thanks to the people at Sheffield Children's Hospital and I feel I can raise some more much needed awareness for the cause

I was aged 7 (1999) when i was diagnosed cancerous brain tumor with has spread the spine and in 2014 my second brain tumor, I am 27 and at present time I am very well and cancer free (touch wood). I am currently going to Derby University studying Business Management (BA) year 2 which I cannot believe am actually here, I have no idea how am here haha therefore I must have some brains cells left, they haven't removed all of my brain yet!

My life had to change radically, before my brain tumour I was very mischievous energetic kid from playing Football for my local team (Armthorpe Rovers) and going to taekwondo every week, I loved to get home from school and play football with my dog Saffy, we used to do everything together from football to going to bed together. But when the day hit me, well my mum because I didn’t even notices till I started getting very bad headaches and seeing three footballs when taking free kicks in football matches and people (Doctors) poking me and putting me into machines, saying I need an argent operation and that no hospital would take me after a few hours Sheffield said they want me in straight away and for what i remember i was being shipped off to Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital in an ambulance, all I cared about at the time was Manchester united and that the paramedic supported a crap football team.

When the day came i had my operation whitch took around 9 hours, they had to leaveso many millons cancer cells within my brain as they could not reach them, therefore i had the maximun amount of chemotherapy and radiotherapy that i can ever have but this killed all the cancerous cells how ever this lead to some serious issues with my life latter on as thiscaused me to stop growing, have major spinally problems and a second brain tumour which Sheffield treated successfully

just more scars to put in the locker

I had to change most of my life as I couldn’t walk, I lost the ability to use my right arm and I had to learn how to use my left arm and even today my right side is not the best. I had to wear an eye patch for a year because I had eye Astigmatism. I got very frustrated on things I couldn’t do any more like playing football with Saffy or go and do taekwondo and this use to make me very upset and burst out in anger not knowing why I couldn’t do these things anymore, I had to adapt to my new life starting with learning how to walk again with Saffy help. Even to this day without her help I don’t think I would have ever walked again. Saffy use to let me lean on her while going to the crisp cupboard and when I use to fall down she use to help me up or pull me to the beanbag. This has taught me that best friends can come in any shape or size mine was my dog saffy

I dealt with the problem by adapting and being by very determined to prove my doctors and parents wrong. I were very upset that I had to go to a different high school to all my friends but within a few days i made new friends at my new school, I had to re learn to write with my left hand with isn’t the best but I adapted to the problem by using a computer, I were very determined to walk again as I wanted to be a footballer when I grew up, so every day I with my dog “Saffy” I got out of seat and use to use her as a learning post which has helped me learn how to walk again.

Threw my determination and help I were able to adapt to the situation and to this date I am still adapting threw life.

this is a short insight to my early stages of my life I could write for ever but in short, how I am doing today am very well and ready to face the next adventure of my life.
