Story
At Charlie‘s 20 week scan they found a hole in his hear and he was diagnosed with AVSD, as well as t21. Charlie has been in and out of hospital since he was 2 months old. At 3 months old, he had increased difficulty in breathing and he required a heart repair. Once in Bristol hospital, he went under a complete repair of his AVSD. Unfortunately, they were unable to repair it fully and required a further operation. After a week in PICU, he wasnt showing any improvement, so they performed the second operation giving him a mechanical valve and a permanent pacemaker. After a month later, Charlie then became ill againa and was rushed to hospital, where they found a blood clot. Whilst undergoing Thrombolysis, Charlie had 3 cardiac arrests. This process then had to happen again in 2019, but on the last ocassion he produced a line infection which he would need 6 weeks of antibiotics. For this to be done hee needed a hickman line but unfortunately after 3 weeks this snapped. They tried to repair the line but this did not work. We agreed to have to pacemaker moved so he could have a Gastostromy fitted. After one night, Charlie became unwell and they investigated to discover he had internal bleeding where they had moved his pacemaker. Charlie now needs a special bed to help keep him safe and we would love to be able to raise £450 to help him get that
