Weʼve raised £851 to provide food and shelter for over 350 homeless dogs

    Story

Last year I volunteered at an animal shelter in Dubrovnik that is home to over 350 dogs and one lady who cares for all of them with the help one worker and one regular volunteer. There is no shelter, electricity or running water supply. After seeing the conditions and getting to know all of these wonderful dogs I stayed there in my motorhome for 2 months and wish I had stayed longer. The winters in Dubrovnik can be terrible especially on this hill exposed to all of the elements.

The mayor who made a number of promises to the shelter has yet to come through with years of "talk" about building proper facilities and nothing to be seen. The dogs need shade in the summer and protection from snow and rain in the winter.

He promised to provide food but the shelter are still using what little donations they have to ensure the dogs eat leaving nothing for vet care.

I have organised a sponsored dog walk that will take place at Hartshill Haze Country Park on SundayMarch 25th at 11:00AM. The walk will be approximately 5 miles long with rest points and water stations along the way if owners and/or dogs need a rest. Everyone is welcome to join, you can contact me for a sponsorship form, make your own records or simply donate on this page. Food and drink will be provided as well as a raffle and an Easter style hunt.

Every penny raised will go directly to the charity.

I know £500 is only a drop in the ocean compared to what they really need and I hope we can raise more but this place will always be close to my heart and if i can help them just a little bit, that is enough :)

Well done, Chica! I am now totally addicted to camper vans after meeting you! Hope our paths cross again. The refuge is certainly quieter without you and your lovely smile.
