🥾 Sponsored Walk up Whernside – Helping Me Get to Europe 27! 🥾

Hi! I’m Zeke 👋

In May, I’m going to be walking up Whernside with my dad and his friends to help raise money for my Europe 27 Scouts Expedition.

Whernside is the highest mountain in Yorkshire, standing at 736 metres (2,415 ft). It’s one of the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks, and it’s known for being a long, tough climb. It’s going to be challenging, but that’s exactly why I wanted to do it.

This walk means a lot to me. When I was between 4 and 8 years old, I had leukaemia. I spent a lot of time in hospital and missed out on lots of normal childhood things. Now that I’m healthy, I try to grab every opportunity I can — even when it’s hard or a bit scary. Walking up Whernside feels like a really good way to challenge myself and show how far I’ve come.

I’m one of just 30 Scouts chosen to take part in the Europe 27 Scouts Expedition. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip where I’ll travel across Europe, meet Scouts from other countries, experience new cultures, and take on challenges as part of a team. To be able to go, I need to raise £3,600, and this sponsored walk is one of my big fundraisers.

Scouts has helped me build confidence, make friends, and believe in myself. Taking on Whernside feels like a big step — both literally and towards my biggest adventure yet.
