I am running the Grizzly which is a 20mile race on 10th March 2019 in aid of my local community energy group Zero Chippenham (formally know as CAVE) which is targeting Zero carbon emissions in Chippenham by 2030. Zero Chippenham website is www.Zerochippenahm.org.

The Grizzly is one of the toughest off-road races in the UK, running on sand, up cliffs, though bogs, hills you name it. Believe it or not I am looking forward to it and I am keen to raise some money for an important cause which could have far reaching effects on our communities.

I need to raise at least £1000 to fund air quality equipment and technical support so we can collate air quality data for the roads around our neighbourhood.

Zero are doing this as transport emissions are one of the biggest issues in Chippenham, they represent at least 28% of our community carbon footprint.

With this information we will be better informed and run projects for the community with electric vehicles, electrifying public transport and encouraging investment in cycling infrastructure.

There are a number of schools in Chippenham and 45,000 local residents all of whom are affected by this climate and health emergency.

As well as carbon emissions from transport we have a double whammy of Nitrogen Oxide emissions. Every day we find out more about Nitrogen Oxide emissions and how they can affect peoples short and long term health.

So far the government is not doing enough to tackle this emergency and we would like to see our local authorities following the lead of London and Oxford and tackling this issue as well.

For now I would like to expose the problem in detail with real data and use that to create the base data for our programmes to target change.
