Story

Our dear friend Ziva Weaver who has sadly been diagnosed with a severe complex and rare cancer (MMMT) is undergoing a two track treatment. From the NHS – chemo plus an operation, and then radiotherapy. And an additional life-changing intervention that the NHS is not able to offer and therefore needs to be privately funded.

Although Ziva continued working as a self-employed trauma psychotherapist as long as she was able to (and beyond), she is now not well enough to work. So we have gathered together to raise funds to support her in the six months when she will not be able to work.

We are not alone in saying that Ziva is an extraordinary woman who has served many communities through her therapeutic work. Her way of handling her own transgenerational Holocaust trauma has been to devote her life to working with other people’s trauma.

For three decades she has offered her support to others as a psychotherapist helping hundreds of clients, not only with her professional skills but with her warmth, humour and down to earth humanity. She has contributed to the lives of others in her practice, for the NHS and at the hospice in London Lighthouse working with people with HIV & AIDS.

She has spent her working life advocating for people, some on the margins of society – young people, adults suffering with mental health problems and deeply traumatised, and children in care. And now she needs the helping hand she has offered others.
