    Story

My partner Graham McKenzie age 40 had an accident at work in February 2017 which he encountered a leg injury, went to hospital and his leg was put into a locked brace for 11 weeks, which also in this time he was wheelchair bound and unable to walk after the 11 weeks went back removed the brace and was sent home waiting on a physio referral, but was still unable to walk or work so still wheelchair bound, In all this time of his leg being in a locked brace nothing was done, constant trips back and forth to doctors and the hospital, but was just sent home with pain relief. started his physio a week after referral had 1 session sent home to do physio at home which he did, we was due to go back the following week which we did go, but during the week up to the next visit my partner felt something pop behind his right knee so on our visit to the physio they refused to touch the knee and sent him straight to A.E, from then he spent 4 weeks in hospital were his leg was getting worse as in swelling still not able to walk, so was then referred to a specialist hospital where they confirmed compartment syndrome in his right leg, we are now in June 2017 were he underwent 3 operations to his right leg. He was sent home at beginning of July as after the op he was able to walk with crutches and a frame. But with in 2 weeks of being at home he ended up back in hospital due to a very severe infection in his leg, which has now gave him right leg paralysis. the hospital are now considering amputation as this has now been going on for 1 year and 5 months, and in which all of this time he has been unable to work or even run a normal life or do the physical things he used to do with myself and our children, I would like to get my partner a scooter so we can get out and about as a family again but also to give him a little bit of independence back, because being stuck in has made him very depressed, all support will be very much appreciated thank you

Well not good news to report 😥😥 The hospital have now decided to go ahead with amputation, this is know going to be an above the knee amputation of the right leg.. It means Graham should hopefully be pain free but the downside is he most likely will not end up having a prosthetic leg. So would be great fall for any help you can give him as he will need a lot of new things to help start this new chapter in his life and adapt to the loss of the leg.
