RE: Wear Red, Save a Life Campaign 2023
My name is Zoe Cooke, Mother of Byron Griffin, who was stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack while picking up a friend in Ilkeston on Sunday afternoon on 4th of July 2021 at just 22 years old.
With recent events in Nottingham and the sad killing of Barnaby Webber, Grace O'Malley Kumar and Ian Coates. This has made me more determined than ever to get more bleed control kits around Nottingham.
My first aim is to raise enough money to have a cabinet installed on Ilkeston Road in Memory of Barnaby, Grace and Ian.
Then with any surplus money I will do as I did last year with money raised and place kits in locations around Nottingham.
Sadly, knife crime is on the increase and is no longer just gang or drug related. Since losing my son I have been campaigning tirelessly against knife crime and have been successfully raising money to provide bleed kits in locations across Nottingham. Last year we concentrated on schools taking part but this year we would like anyone who wishes to take part to join in so Schools, Collages, Companies, or even just you yourself. I will then concentrate on getting these kits into as many hot spots and school’s colleges and universities in Nottingham as possible.
My family's life has been totally broken beyond belief and i do not want any more families to go through this nightmare. The sad fact is if you lose 40% of your blood you die. These public access kits are designed for any Catastrophic to stem the flow until the emergency services arrive this could be an injury from a stab wound, Car accident or head injury.
Each Cabinet with kit and fitting cost £720.00 including vat or just a kit alone £102 including vat So please give what you can. Don't wait until it happens to your loved one or your child.
May I also take this chance to pass on my condolences to the families of Barnaby, Grace and Ian. xxxxx
