Story
Back in 2023 we rescued Zoe, a heavily pregnant cat that a couple from the UK found whilst in Cyprus for their wedding. They needed help in getting her home ✈️ 🇬🇧
Zoe and her family needed us and we came just in time, as hours after we took her from the street, she gave birth to 7 kittens. Against the odds, all of them survived and thrived, despite Zoe being badly treated by local people who took her food and water away whilst she was trying to survive herself.
Her babies were fostered and rehomed, whilst Zoe was reunited with her British family, living in Great Yarmouth.
Fast forward to October 2024 and Zoe became very sick, being diagnosed with Pyrothorax. She needed treatment to remove fluid and pus from her chest. Zoe is insured and she was successfully treated, with it covered by her insurance policy, costing £4,400.
And now, March 2026, Zoe has been admitted for not being able to breathe properly, with her diagnosis being PYOTHORAX again😓💔
‼️ Her pet insurance provider will not help Zoe as it is listed on her policy as a condition she’s already been treated for ‼️
It’s extremely rare for this to happen, and nearly 18 months after the initial bout.
Vets are baffled at the reoccurrence and they feel she may have something stuck in her chest. She is responding to treatment, but already the cost has exceeded £1,000.
She needs to have an MRI scan to see what the obstruction could be. If something is found, it’s going to need removing.
At this point we are hoping to raise as much as we can, but it could be in excess of £10K, if something is found and Zoe is operated on to have it removed. Otherwise, this could happen again.
To us at Project Paw Cyprus, she’s a very special cat that we hold dearly in our heart. We think of so many cats that we have rescued as our own, we don’t forget those who we save and we don’t stop caring.
She has come so far and is a much loved member of her family, who are now devastated at what is happening.
Please donate anything that you can, to help Zoe and her family overcome this awful situation.
Her bills and invoices will be posted for transparency.
