Story

On Sunday 21st April 2024 I am running the London Marathon for Hospice UK!

In 2022 my Grandad was placed into a Hospice after being diagnosed with Cancer after the hard task of being cared for at home it all got too much and with him not having long left to live it was decided that a Hospice was the best place.  I think most people who have never been to a hospice just thinks of death and sadness, but to see the care and dignity our loved ones receive around the clock from staff was heartwarming.  My Grandad actually perked up at the start he was laughing and joking even watching his favourite films on tv, enjoying his food and he felt safe and never alone. As a family we had comfort knowing he had dignity and care and that we could just be with him spend quality time together as a family not a carers. The hospice was a little ray of sunshine at the end of a big storm. This Marathon is not just in memory of him and my family but it’s for everyone who has been in the care of a hospice and every family member or friend who has visited a loved one in a hospice and also everyone who will in the future to get the care they require at the time they need it most with their loved ones by their side.

Any donations would be incredible or ideas or help with fundraising from people or businesses this isn’t for me this is for the charity and will help so many people.

Much Love

Liam x

Hospice UK is the national charity working with the government and NHS to ensure our 200+ local hospices can survive and thrive in these challenging financial times. Hospice UK is there for children, adults and families going through death, dying, and grief.Currently, one in four UK families can’t get the care they need and deserve when their loved one is dying. This needs to change. It takes £3 million every single day to keep our local hospices open; two-thirds of this comes from individuals donations, including sponsoring people like me taking on challenges! Please sponsor my marathon and help me hit my target! Together we can make sure everyone affected by death, dying and grief gets the care they need, when they need it.
