Desert Foothills Y has seen more than 120,000 children, adults, and seniors come through its doors since 2009. through childcare, exercise, social programs, teen development, and family services that help us learn, grow and thrive.
My Story started back in 2019 when I started going to the Y for Zumba. I love to dance and this didn't seem like working out. Shannon was a great teacher and I was having a lot of fun. In 2021, I added a wellness class with the goal of eating better and losing a few pounds. I added Shannon as a personal trainer. But in March of that year, I had a severe pancreatic attack that kept me in the hospital for 18 days. After a month of rest, I started back to the Y. Boy did I struggle! Slowly I got my strength back. The Y was so supportive, caring, and knowledgeable. Eventually, I added an additional trainer, Nathan, on weekends. I was serious about getting back into shape and the Y was serious about helping me!
Now it's almost 2 years later. The "Hot Y'ers" is a group from the Y that we formed and eventually, we ran the MUD RUN on October 1 (which was my 82nd birthday) in 2022. The MUD RUN is a 5K run with 18 "obstacles" along the way-a tough course but the Hot Y'ers all completed it. That goal we set, with the help of the Y, kept us all inspired.
I'm so grateful for the Y and all the helpers there. It's a safe place and a comfortable one.
I'm asking you for a donation to the Desert Foothills Family YMCA. It is actively working in our community for everyone. They have plans to change, to add, to expand, and to make the Y even better.
I will match every donation I get - I'm serious about that too!
