Story

I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm participating in Chase the Sun on 19th June 2021. A 200 mile cycle from Whitley Bay on the East Coast starting at dawn and chasing the Sun through the Scots and English borders to arrive in Ayr on the West Coast before sunset.

I'm raising money for three charities;

1.  Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) - my ride and support team is made up of members of the Leicestershire and Rutland Masonic Cycling Club. MCF benefits a number of charities nationally and locally. For example, in Leicestershire alone local community groups benefit from grants distributed throughout the year. An example which  is close to me was a grant of £1500 to 9th Leicester Scout Group (my son's all attend this group). Many other youth, community and medical and assistance charities have benefitted in Leicester and Rutland through similar grants.

2. Prostate Cancer UK - Prostate Cancer UK's top priority is funding research to stop prostate cancer killing men. They're investing millions to find better treatments and better tests that can spot fast-growing cancers early, and could be used in a screening programme to save thousands of lives. My cycle team and my rugby teammates are all men. Any one of whom could develop this illness.

3. Rainbows Hospice Leicestershire - Sadly, some children simply don’t live long enough. Since 1994 we’ve opened our doors and hearts to those children and the people who love them most. And now more than ever, we need your help to keep on bringing care and happiness to our children and families. Rainbows is the East Midlands' only hospice for children and young people. They provide vital care and support to families impacted by life limiting conditions. One family who have been helped by Rainbows are the Ellis'. I had the privilege to know the Ellis family through coaching their son, Tom, at Oadby Wyggestonians RFC from under 10's to under 15's. Sadly, Tom was diagnosed with a brain tumour and despite extensive medical care, he sadly died last June. Rainbows supported Tom and his family. I am dedicating my ride to Tom and will have his name on my shirt.

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people that know about this cause the better, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
