Story
In March 2020, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and the journey since has been challenging, both physically and mentally. As I take on the Royal Parks Half Marathon on the 12th October, I’m running not just for myself, but for everyone living with Crohn’s and Colitis.
The Royal Parks Half Marathon is a personal milestone, but it’s also a chance to show solidarity with those who face similar battles every day.
Right now, an estimated 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. Crohn’s and Colitis cause inflammation in the gut and there is no cure. The symptoms include extreme fatigue and severe pain with conditions that can impact nearly every part of the body, leading to a lifetime of medication and, in many cases, surgery.
This event is an opportunity to raise awareness for these conditions and support Crohn's and Colitis UK, an organisation that has provided invaluable support to so many people like me. Their work in improving care, funding vital research, and offering a sense of community has made a huge difference in the lives of many.
Your support will help Crohn’s and Colitis UK continue their incredible work and make a real difference to the lives of those affected by these conditions.
Thank you,
Ethan
