Story
Frasier and I met the founders of Philips Academy, Jane and Phil, about 10 years ago and became friends with them and their two sons, Jamie and Philip. They started the school because they wanted their son Philip who was born with special needs to have the education and skills he needed to be a contributing member of the community and reach his goals toward independence. Philips now is a young man, living on his own, working and loving life! This is all because of what he learned at Philips Academy and their great community of teachers, friends, and supporters!

Philips Academy is all about "Real Learning For Real Life". Our program is designed specifically for middle and high school students with complex language, learning, and/or cognitive disabilities. We believe that a purposeful education prepares them for all of the benefits and responsibilities of adulthood. The post-secondary program, Bridges, supports young adults to achieve independence, like finding a job, riding the bus, and cooking a meal. Students explore volunteering, paid employment, friendships, independent living and more to find their path to success. We think the whole world could learn from Philips Academy about overcoming obstacles...creating a hopeful way forward...standing on your own two feet as well as the necessity of a strong support system...the happiness of having a friend and the satisfaction of a job well done.
