Great North Run 2024 · 8 September 2024 ·

Our amazing Great North Run team are taking on the world's largest half marathon to raise vital funds to improve diagnosis and treatment, and fund research to find a cure; to empower all those with Crohn's and Colitis to live freer, fuller lives.

Story

As a lot of you know I've suffered with Crohn's disease for over 37 years. Diagnosed at a very young age and in a very serious situation I was operated to remove a badly infected part but the suffering continues and many suffer a lot worse than myself. I'd love to help those suffering worse than me and to one day hopefully find a cure for this horrible disease. You can see from my photos, that i can run, that I did have the steroids moon-face as a child and that I can sometimes scrub up well.

Crohn’s and Colitis - Right now, an estimated 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. And the real number could be almost double that.

Because of the stigma and misunderstanding surrounding these diseases, thousands of people are suffering in silence.

But they’re not alone.

The charity is working to improve diagnosis and treatment, and to fund research into a cure; to raise awareness and to give people hope, comfort and confidence to live freer, fuller lives.
