Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For Refreshment UK, I'm taking a flight of approximately 30 minutes to experience a flight like no other, testing my mettle (and stomach) as I perform aerobatic loops and rolls.

After a Wing Walk in 2017, and ahead of aiming to do an aerobatic wing walk in 2019, I am taking a flight that will see me go upside down in the plane!!

I will fly with a qualified aerobatic instructor in Leicestershire. After climbing to a safe height I will start gently with loops and rolls. If feeling good and adventurous I will then move on to spins, stall turns and different combinations of these.

Refreshment UK is a charity based in Blackpool who are currently fundraising to support and open a space for people coping with mental health conditions.

UPDATE - 4th November 2018

"I did it! The days before my flight, I was constantly checking on every weather forecast I could find. Will it be dry, wet, windy, snow?!. But everything seemed to be OK apart from a gusty wind! I phoned Leicester airport at 9 am the day I was supposed to fly and got told a perfect flying day – off I went.

I had no nerves, just excitement… that was until my instructor said that I would be able to fly the plane a bit…………… now I’m nervous… however I got my headset and set off to my plane. It was smaller than I imagined but I climbed (in a very un-elegant fashion – glad that wasn’t recorded), got belted in and off we went. My instructor, Rob, flew off the runway – it was bumpy but we got to 2,000 feet, he let go of the controls and put me in control of the plane. I flew for about 10 mins, round in circles and to specific areas. It was an amazing view! Leicester is so green and it was great being nosy at peoples posh, houses gardens and pools! Rob took over and he practiced a loop and barrel roll to make sure it wasn’t going to make me ill, then we flew back to the airport and in the skies above did an aerobatic display so my family could see – loops, spins, rolls it was awesome!

You may ask why ? Yes I love the adrenaline and excitement of it – (can’t wait to do my next aerobatic wing walk in the next couple of years), but what makes it so special is that I know I am doing it to help someone else in their life – someone to grow, feel special, feel loved, get help in their most difficult times, get to know God.

Mental health affects so many people – I am so proud of my brother and Refreshment UK for coming through and being able to support and help so many people."
