Southwest Scotland was awarded UNESCO Biosphere status in 2012, recognising an outstanding natural heritage and opportunities for sustainable development. The Galloway & Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Partnership works across the UNESCO region in conservation, education, enterprise and climate action.
