About The Memorial Gates
The Memorial Gates is a charity (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) ( Charity Number: 1203649) which sets out to educate the public on the part played by soldiers, sailors and airmen of the Commonwealth and Nepal. It also plans, coordinates and hosts an annual commemoration for all those who volunteered to serve with the British Armed Forces during the First and Second World Wars.
The objects of the CIO are:
To advance the education of the public in the contribution made by the people from the Indian Sub Continent, the Continent of Africa and the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands who served in the Armed Forces of the Crown whether by land ,sea or in the air during the World Wars of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 and subsequently through the provision of an educational programme and an annual Commemoration at the Memorial Gates in Green Park, London.
To promote good citizenship for the public benefit by making grants of financial assistance to the Royal Parks (Registered Charity No. 1172042) to assist in the upkeep and maintenance of the Memorial Gates in Green Park London. The Council was established to continue the work of the former Memorial Gates Trust.
