Story
This September, I’m joining an inspiring fundraising campaign for Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) as part of Give More 24!, a powerful 24-hour giving day benefiting nonprofits across Southwest Washington.
NWABA provides life-changing opportunities through sports and physical activity for children, youth, and adults who are blind and visually impaired—and I’ve seen firsthand how deeply their work matters. Whether it’s the confidence of a child riding a tandem bike for the first time, or the pride of an athlete crossing a finish line, NWABA helps people thrive.
Race for a Cause: Supporting NWABA
Orca Half Marathon – September 21
Pie Gobbler – November
Green River Half Marathon – March
The stage is set.
An athlete stands focused at the starting line, mentally replaying the mantras he developed during training:
"Steady pace… relaxed form… strong finish."
But this athlete is different.
His eyes remain closed—not just in concentration, but because he is a Blind Athlete. His tools are human: the support of race guides, the trust built through teamwork, and the strength drawn from a community that believes in inclusion.
That community includes the Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) — an organization committed to empowering blind and visually impaired individuals through the transformative power of sports.
I’m racing in support of NWABA and inviting you to join me.
The challenge: $1,000 per race
The goal: $3,000 total by March's Green River Half Marathon
Your support will help NWABA continue providing critical resources, training, and opportunities for blind athletes like me to compete with confidence and pride.
From a podium finish at the Lake Meridian Triathlon this summer to the spring half marathon where I’m aiming for a new personal record, this journey is about more than fitness — it’s about pushing limits and opening doors.
That run tether I use? It's on loan from NWABA.
The confidence to show up and race? NWABA helped build that too.
How You Can Help:
1. Donate toward the $3,000 goal
2. Share this message with your network
3. Follow along as I train and race
4. Help spread awareness of NWABA’s impact
Your support goes a long way in creating access and opportunity for athletes like me. Let’s reach this goal together — and keep the NWABA mission moving forward.
Sincerely,
Adam
