Team SIA are on the Superhero Triathlon 2026, to help raise vital funds for people affected by spinal cord injury to live fulfilled lives.
Story
Ten years ago, our lives changed forever.
My mum, Lynne, developed sepsis caused by a mass on her spine. Overnight, she was left with an incomplete spinal cord injury that completely changed the course of her life. We were told more than once that she might not make it, but despite every setback, she has continued to fight with incredible strength and determination. Ten years later, she’s still proving just how resilient she is.
I became a young carer when I was just 11 years old, and over the last decade our family has experienced challenges that many people could never imagine. Through some of our hardest moments, the Spinal Injuries Association has been there to provide support, advice and reassurance, not only for my mum, but for all of us as a family, as well as her carer and the people around her.
Their support has made a real difference to our lives, and because they are a charity, they rely on fundraising to continue helping people living with spinal cord injuries and the families who stand beside them.
To celebrate Mum’s incredible 10-year milestone, we’re taking on the Spinal Injuries Association Superhero Triathlon on 15th August at Dorney Lake, Windsor. Fittingly, this year also marks the 10th anniversary of the event itself.
This triathlon is so much more than a sporting challenge for me. It’s a thank you. It’s a celebration of my mum’s strength, determination and courage over the last decade, and it’s my chance to give something back to a charity that has given so much to us.
If you’re able to donate, even just a few pounds, we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps the Spinal Injuries Association continue providing life-changing support to people living with spinal cord injuries and their loved ones. We know first-hand how much that support can mean, and none of us ever know when we or someone we love might need it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can give. It truly means the world to us❤️
