Story

My motivation for fundraising for Spinal Injuries Association (SIA)

I’ve known my friend Dani pre and post that reckless moment when someone changed her life forever. Her determination to live life and strive to enjoy ‘normal’ family life have been impacted hugely by debilitating pain and health issues due to her spinal cord injury.

I remember being with Dani in Stoke Mandeville Hospital when someone from SIA came to speak to her and I saw a flicker of hope in Dani’s eye during such a dark time. They have been there for her throughout and now Dani is herself, a proud Ambassador for the SIA.

Both Dani and I are passionate that women’s healthcare should be accessible to every woman, regardless of mobility and I want to support the SIA in their work in making this a reality.

Every four hours, someone in the UK is told they will never walk again due to spinal cord injury. In that moment, they need more than medical care — they need hope, guidance, and someone who truly understands what they’re going through.

That’s why I’m proud to be in team SIA. SIA is the expert voice for everyone living with spinal cord injury. From the moment of injury and throughout someone’s life, they provide expert clinical advice, practical support, peer mentoring, advocacy, and the confidence to rebuild life on new terms.
