Betty White was a huge idol of mine in so many ways, but it was her love and commitment to animals that just filled my heart. Losing that beautiful soul in 2021 was so sad, so I wanted to honour her memory by raising money for an animal charity. AARCS is near to my heart because I got my beautiful boy Simon from them. They rescued Simon as a kitten when he was frozen to a balcony in -30 weather. Without AARCS who knows what would have happened to this cuddle, full of love, little soul.

As I promised last year, an annual fundraiser in honour of Betty White’s birthday will happen every January because I want to keep Betty’s dream alive. Since it’s a birthday celebration and my company Menagerie Parties & Cakes creates custom cakes and parties, everyone who donates any amount over $5 will be entered into a draw for a $250 custom cake!

The Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) helps thousands of dogs and cats that are homeless, abandoned, abused or living in horrendous conditions. AARCS works closely with rural and First Nations communities where there are limited to no animal services. Over 4,000 animals come through AARCS programs each year alone! AARCS cares for them by providing medical care, spaying/neutering, vaccinating, loving foster homes and then finding their forever families.
