Story
Hi Friends!
This year I will be joining the Britton Fund Ride again to help raise funds for urban forestry research. For those that know me, I am an urban forester for the City of Berkeley, and spend my time and efforts growing and maintaining thousands of trees in the urban space. I only know how to do what I do because of information passed to me by the Britton Fund and other similar organizations.
Here is the plan: I join a number of other arborists, urban foresters, and tree lovers on an ambitious bike ride. This year we will be on the south side of Yosemite National Park, riding the day before our annual conference. Operating this ride takes a bit of money, so I will be donating the first $200 to cover all costs and get the party rolling. Please join me in supporting tree research and growing trees where we need them the most.
More details for the event organizer below. Thanks!
Each year, a dedicated community of friends, colleagues, and tree lovers comes together for something extraordinary: The Britton Fund Ride. What began as a simple idea—pedaling for a cause—has grown into a beloved annual tradition of challenge, camaraderie, and purpose. Riders push themselves not just for the thrill of the journey, but to support research and education that strengthen the health of our urban and community forests across the West.
In partnership with the WCISA 92nd Annual Conference and Tradeshow, the 19th Annual Britton Fund Ride will take place on Monday, April 27, 2027, just outside the breathtaking entrance to Yosemite National Park, California. Riders can choose short, medium, or long routes totaling approximately 100 scenic kilometers—a journey of quiet forests, rolling hills, and shared determination.
A meaningful highlight of the day is our tree-planting event with The TreeCircus at a local elementary school. Surrounded by children, teachers, and community mem
