Story

This May I am participating in Dazzle Walk 2023 to raise money for The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK. This is a charity very close to my heart, they provide support to people affected by a really poorly understood condition, that can be extremely painful, debilitating, disabling and for some, even life threatening.

I have EDS, so does my eldest daughter and possibly my youngest. Our bodies do not make enough collagen, which largely affects our joints, resulting in painful dislocations, sub-laxations and early onset osteoarthritis. However, our digestive systems and autonomic nervous systems are also affected and do not work as they should, causing further complications and difficulties.

It is a rare condition and sadly, one for which there is no cure and nowhere near enough support, expertise or understanding. This far too often results in late diagnosis after years of suffering and poor mental health in people with the condition. So, PLEASE help me raise awareness and much needed funds for this amazing charity.

I'll be attempting to walk 10k on my crutches on May 20th. This is going to be a HUGE challenge! I will definitely have to stop and rest many times and will have the wheelchair on standby just in case, but I WILL finish!
