The arrival of over 100,000 asylum seekers to New York City has created an unprecedented crisis. Local government and non-profit organizations such as Mixteca are working tirelessly to provide new arrivals with shelter, food and a path to paid employment so they can support their families. During Latinx Heritage Month, I will be raising funds to help Mixteca assist over 8,000 individuals receive essential services.

Mixteca is a nonprofit organization based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn whose mission is to empower Latin-American immigrants in the New York area by providing them access to services that enhance their quality of life and will allow them to reach sustainable social and economic development. Mixteca offers a variety of programs and services that respond to the specific needs of immigrant families and aim to build a supportive environment for the growing Latin-American immigrant community.
