I am excited to have an opportunity to support an incredible organization, Easter Seals Nova Scotia, and support my lifetime friend (43 years!), Debby Chipman. Debby has been rappelling for the Easter Seals since 2010 making this her 14th rappel and fundraising a whopping grand total of $71, 558! AMAZING!

Easter Seals Nova Scotia is the beneficiary of this event. This organization is committed to helping children, youth, and adults with disabilities in Nova Scotia become unstoppable in their lives by providing programs that promote mobility, inclusion, and independence.

Last year Debby lost her biggest supporter, her Mom Joan, in May 2024 and she will rappel with her team, Angels R With Us, in her memory. My angel is my Dad, Arthur Gill, who passed so long ago, September 2002, but has been watching over us ever since and I am sure he will be there watching my descent and cheering me on.

Each year Debby asks me to join her team and rappel down the tallest building in Halifax, 1801 Hollis. Aside from wanting to support my dear friend, I have always considered it for many reasons; as a teenager, my Mom worked in that building and I loved to visit her office. It was the tallest building in Halifax and very new and when I got off the elevator after the long ride up my Mom would be waiting and I would follow her to her office, surreptitiously watching all the professional office people busy doing important tasks, I was sure. But the best part of my visit was always when we arrived at my Mom’s office where there was always a tin of homemade cookies waiting. Sure, we have lots of cookies at home but they tasted better sitting in my Mom’s office up high in the sky in downtown Halifax at 1801 Hollis. A great memory!

This year I turn 60; one month after Drop Zone Halifax 2025 and I think a great way to celebrate this milestone is to join my friend and help her reach her fundraising goal this year.
