Story
We met in grade 10 math class. Our friendship started there and has continued through many years. We were able to enjoy many Saturday nights enjoying a beverage and dancing the night away. Numerous Mardi Gras festivals in downtown Halifax wearing great costumes. It is funny neither of us every dressed as a superhero costume.
We lost touch for awhile but connected again in our twenties. We supported each other through post secondary education, job changes, new and broken relationships, death of family members. Nancy lost her father, Arthur in 2002 and Debby lost her mother, Joan in 2024.
Neither of us are very athletic but are willing to try things. This will be Debby’s 14th rappel and she has raised $71,559 to date. Why is she going for it for a 14th time? She likes the challenge of stepping off the ledge of the tallest office building in downtown Halifax, supporting this wonderful cause and gets to wear this cape.
Nancy has a big birthday in September. On a recent visit back to the East Coast we got together for a drink not far from 1801 Hollis. Nancy knew the building because her mother, Carol had worked in for years.
Debby will wear the costume her mother made for her first rappel in 2010. She will be still nervous when the rope techs tell her they have her and to begin her descent.
Nancy is looking forward to the rappel. She says that may change after she steps off the edge of a twenty-three storey buildong
