Story
I’m running the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April and this year I’m doing it for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).
In previous years, I’ve been lucky enough to run with Good for Age places and have supported a number of different charities. This year, things are a little different and I didn’t want to miss the chance to still be on that start line while supporting an important cause.
London is always special, not just because of the event itself but because of the incredible number of people running for causes that truly matter. It’s always been something I admire, and I’m really pleased to be part of that this year.
I don’t have a personal story of someone close to me affected by a spinal injury. But the reality is, spinal cord injuries can happen to anyone at any time through an accident or something completely unexpected. One moment life is normal, and the next it can change in an instant.
Every four hours, someone in the UK is told they will never walk again due to spinal cord injury. SIA supports people through that life-changing moment and everything that comes after — helping them rebuild independence, confidence and a future.
Marathons are always a challenge, but having a purpose behind them matters. This time, it’s about supporting people facing challenges far greater than 26.2 miles.
With the marathon fast approaching, I’d be so grateful for any support — I am trying to raise £2000 and every donation, no matter what the size, will be hugely appreciated by me and SIA.
Thank you so much.
