A CNC (computer numerical control) router is one of the key tools in our Upper School Innovation Lab, used to cut wood, plastic, and other materials to a specified design.

Story

Our Upper School students use a CNC router to bring their computer-designed ideas to life. A CNC (computer numerical control) router is a machine designed to carve out complex shapes from materials like wood, plastic, expanded foam, sift metals, and, in some cases steel. Students design a 3D model of their project using CAD (computer aided design) software, which is then programmed into the router to produce the desired designs.

The Upper School Innovation Lab currently has two CNC routers that are used regularly for a variety of projects, including the picnic benches constructed for the Lower School.

One is nearing the end of its useful life, and a replacement is needed to keep our Dragons designing and engineering for years to come.
