This September, I’m joining an inspiring fundraising campaign for Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) as part of Give More 24!, a powerful 24-hour giving day benefiting nonprofits across Southwest Washington.

NWABA provides life-changing opportunities through sports and physical activity for children, youth, and adults who are blind and visually impaired—and I’ve seen firsthand how deeply their work matters. Whether it’s the confidence of a child riding a tandem bike for the first time, or the pride of an athlete crossing a finish line, NWABA helps people thrive.

👉 Here’s why I’m fundraising for NWABA:

I have had the opportunity to see the impact of Camp Spark since joining the NWABA family in 2019. As a counselor I got to work with incredible young people, who I got to see grow in their confidence, skills, independence, and advocacy over the years. When I moved up into a sports specialist role I had the opportunity to work with some of those same former campers, who became counselors and sports specialists.

As a physical education teacher, Camp Spark provides me with one of the best professional development opportunities. I have the opportunity to learn and improve on my instruction, how to better adapt instruction to meet the needs of students with visual impairments (and all students). I get to collaborate with other professionals in the field from across the country. Being a part of Camp Spark through NWABA has helped me grow as a professional and a person, plus it has given me the most incredible group of people that I can call my camp family!
