PARCHE is Pastoral Action in Residential Care Homes for the Elderly. We have a vision for reaching all the care homes for the elderly in Eastbourne with the love of Christ. We want to see churches in Eastbourne, effectively ‘chaplains’ or ‘adopts’ one or more care home in the town, so that both residents and staff can know and experience the love of Jesus Christ for themselves. Many people who enter care homes may have become detached from their churches and other support structures and may feel isolated and bereft. Some are visited pastorally or taken to church on Sunday, but unfortunately many residents loose contact with church and this can add to that sense of loss. We at PARCHE believe that Christian churches need to be church in residential care communities and just in our own church buildings or members houses. Sometimes our teams are reaching existing Christians, but we also have many testimonies of residents and staff in care homes coming to faith through the ministry of PARCHE groups.
