About St Cuthbert's, Benfieldside Roof/Spire Fundraising Appeal
We are hoping to raise funds to help cover essential building and fabric repairs at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Benfieldside. As we are entering our 175th year within the community, recent investigations have uncovered an urgent necessity for extensive repair of our Church fabric. We are currently attempting to progress these repairs with our limited funds, but recent developments mean that further work must be undertaken.
Primarily these repairs are roof related after a period of water ingress and necessitate structural repairs. Further work on our tower and spire has been put on hold as roof repairs have uncovered more work that needs to be rectified.
As a Church that has served the community for 175 years we have been a focal point for not only worship, but many of the events in people’s lives from weddings and funerals, to Remembrances, Fairs, Christenings and our very popular Christmas services.
Many people have current and past associations with our church and its role within our parish. We, as a church community must provide for its upkeep, not only in terms of worship and availability for events as above, but also maintenance and repair of our buildings.
That is why we would like to ask if you could help in any way possible, to raise funds to meet these most pressing current obligations and help repair a focal point of our community.
