POWiS The long term objectives of the POWiS project are to: i. Complete and update its inventory of the individual places of worship (sites) (currently 11,000 listed) and their locations ; ii. Create and maintain a new digital repository (database) with a website that is easily accessible online and open to public use and contributions; iii. Compile accurate information for including descriptions, current usage, timeline as well as images, literature and source references for all sites on or added to the database; iv. Ensure permanent archiving linked to other church heritage databases; v. Foster a community of people interested in preserving, recording and editing data related to places of worship in Scotland (including in particular subscriber members of SCHR and volunteer contributors to the work of recording, updating, and editing) .
