Story
Kathy and Debby met in March 2013 when Debby’s position was moved to Kathy’s department. They didn’t work together very long before Debby had spinal surgery in April 2023.
Debby remembers Kathy visiting her at the Halifax Infirmary and Nova Scotia Rehab center. Kathy also walked through the halls with Debby when she had to use a walker. One of things Debby had been told was not to look down when she was walking, Kathy made sure she didn’t look down.
Debby returned for her 2nd rappel after her surgery in 2013. Kathy was there to support her as a cheerleader and personal photographer. Kathy joined Debby as part of team Over the Edge (not sure if that is right) in 2014 and 2015
Kathy had a big birthday in July and lost her father, Frank, in January. Her folks were at her previous rappels cheering her on. Frank will be with her in spirit the 23 stories from the top to the bottom.
This will be Debby’s 15th rappel She will wear the costume her mother made for her first rappel in 2010. She has raised more than $78,000 to date Debby says she is still nervous to step off the edge of a 23 storey building but enjoys the challenge.
Kathy did not think she would ever rappel again. She believes in the good work that Easter Seals does and wants to challenge herself.
Our scheduled rappel time is 12 pm. Debby has previously been on the roof at 12 pm. She said noon time Citadel gun is very loud on the top of the tallest building in Halifax.
Every donation helps us reach or exceed our team goal of $3,500
