Story
Emily: I’m running to support CHEO because of the impact it’s had on people close to me. CHEO helped my friend Aiden while he was fighting cancer, giving him the care and support he needed during an incredibly difficult time. Seeing that inspired me, and it’s also helped me find the strength to face my own chronic health challenges. CHEO has inspired me to go into the medical field and truly showed me what a good healthcare worker looks like. Running this race is my way of giving back to a hospital that changes so many lives .
Emma: I am running in support of medical research. all my life i have been surrounded by friends and family who a struggled to get treatment for their diagnosis. To me raising money towards medical research means having people i love get the help and proper care they need.
Hannah: I’m running to support CHEO because of the amazing care they give to children and families. Seeing how CHEO supported Aiden during his fight with cancer showed me how important their work is. I’m proud to run in support of kids like Aiden and help give back to a hospital that changes so many lives.
Myla: I am running to help support struggling children at CHEO to help fund the best possible treatment. I am interested in working in paediatrics later in life and will always be willing to help anyone in any way possible. Also, I have a friend who’s had multiple health issues over the past few years and is currently attending CHEO so I am helping support her and every other struggling child.
Alyssa: Hello! My name is Alyssa and I am running for every kid and family that has had their lives impacted by both acute and chronic illnesses. As someone that has had quite the journey with my own health, CHEO has a special place in my heart because I have received lots of care for my health conditions. Everyone that knows me knows that I am so passionate about medicine! Not only the science but also the beauty in a community that devotes their life to caring for others. It has been a life long goal of mine to become a physician and CHEO has given me so many wonderful examples of the type of doctor I wish to become. It is my goal to do everything in my power make sure that every kid and their families feel supported and know that they’re not alone in their suffering. I am also the founder of an upcoming non profit organization called life beyond diagnosis that provides a supportive community for teenagers with chronic illnesses and shines light on the realities of being young with chronic pain. This is why our team name is beyond diagnosis! If you are a teenager with chronic illness just know that you are not alone and that there is life beyond the symptoms and labels.
