Story
This March, we are taking on the HYROX challenge to support people living with cancer for Macmillan Cancer Support — and this one is deeply personal for us.
Sarah sadly lost all three grandparents to cancer, and we've both seen first-hand the incredible, compassionate work that Macmillan Nurses do. When the race gets tough and I’m feeling every bit of the pain, Sarah will be running and pushing for Grandad Joe, Nanny Jan, and Grandad Ron. They'll be looking down on us, and that thought alone will keep our legs moving when everything in uswants to stop.
Seven years ago, cancer took Bellas husband. She watched the man I loved fade away & that kind of pain changes you forever.
Macmillan aren’t just there for the illness, they’re there for the people left behind.
Bella is racing for her husband.
For the families learning how to breathe again after loss.
And most of all for her children, who are her strength when she feels she has none.
We both hate running & this will push usway out of our comfort zones.
We also want to show our children what’s possible when you put your mind to something — that we can choose the hard things, push ourselves, and be stronger than we ever believed. We want our kids & other women to know that when you decide not to quit, anything is possible.
Together, this race is also a reminder of how powerful women are when we lift each other.
HYROX is a fitness race combining running and functional fitness: a 1km run followed by a workout station, repeated eight times. It’s going to challenge me physically and mentally… but that’s exactly why I’m doing it.
We have pledged to raise £400 each, which could run the Macmillan Support Line for nearly an hour. Any support, no matter the size, truly makes a difference.
Here’s what your donation could do:
📖 £10 could pay for 10 copies of the Help with the Cost of Cancer booklet.
📱 £20 could provide one session of emotional support for someone affected by cancer through a Macmillan Buddy.
💚 £39 could pay for a Macmillan Nurse for 1 hour.
There are currently over 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. Macmillan wants every single one of them to have access to the best care and support — but they can only do that with help from people like you.
Thank you so much for reading, supporting, sharing, donating… or just cheering us on. It means more than you know. 💚🏃♀️✨
