Thanks for taking the time to visit Mark, Neil and Suzie’s JustGiving Team Page.
In a moment of lunacy, we have decided to embark on the daunting physical challenge of riding from Anglesey to Ashford between the 1st and 8th of June. In that time, we will each ride over 400 miles and each ascend and descend over 11,000m. That’s a climb that’s equivalent to riding from Everest Base Camp to the Summit three times (though being Wales, in the summer, our ride will be colder, windier and wetter J). The only physical challenge we ask of you is to do some keyboard based finger exercises that will enable loads of your lovely cash to be transferred to our chosen charities.
The real purpose of doing the cycle is to raise money for our two chosen charities: Combat Stress and The Heart of Kent Hospice. We are funding the ride costs ourselves, so all donations will go to the charities.
Combat Stress helps Servicemen and Servicewomen who have been prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf and have paid a heavy price for that selflessness. Their wounds are frequently not obvious, and are often misunderstood and feared by a society that does not cope well with mental illness in any circumstances. We passionately support the care and assistance that Combat Stress provides to our veterans and their loved ones' and we feel privileged to have the opportunity to increase awareness of and funding for their essential work.
The Heart of Kent Hospice (HOKH) specialises in the provision of palliative care for the people of Maidstone, Kent and the surrounding local communities. Neil has personal experience of their work and had this to say of HOKH: “My Mum spent her final days at the HOKH and I will never be able to adequately express my gratitude for the uplifting, respectful and above all, caring environment that we all experienced. This was a vital comfort to us all during those dark days and I want to do all I can to ensure that other people who find themselves in this same awful situation will also receive the same wonderful support that we did.”
Please give generously to either or both of our nominated charities. Both do excellent work and we recommend spliting your generous donation equally between the two. If however, you prefer your donation to benefit just one of the charities, then that is equally welcome.
We have set up individual pages for each charity so that you may divide your donation as you prefer.
We and our chosen charities are extremely grateful to you for your generous support.
Thank You.
