What are you doing on Saturday 12th May 2012? Why not join us for a car rally from London to Brighton to raise money for a very worthy cause, The Commando Spirit Appeal, for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF).
Who are the participants? We are a group of colleagues, friends, family and acquaintances, from all works of life, joining Corps Security for a car rally challenge to raise money for our brave Royal Marines who risk their lives for us all.
Why the Commando Spirit Appeal for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund? As one of the leading armed forces charities, RMCTF works to support those wounded and injured, as well as those still serving, by funding decompression activities, homecoming events and memorials. It also provides through-life support to those who have left the Royal Marines or have lost loved ones in service. The Commando Sprit Appeal aims to raise £1 Million by 2012, the 350th anniversary of the Corps, to continue to provide support for the Royal Marines and their families in need.
Why a car rally? Whilst the day will be a fun day for colleagues, family, and friends to spend time together and fundraise for a cause close to the hearts of many, it can also serve to remind us of the risks our Royal Marines take on our behalf. We have the freedom to travel without fear whilst our Royal Marines put their lives on the line for us patrolling areas such as Loy Mandeh, Helmand Province in Afghanistan the most dangerous square mile in the World.

What time of car can I drive? Any roadworthy vehicle is welcome.
What are the timings? We intend to leave London at 9am (Saturday 12th May 2012), arriving Brighton at 10:30am.
Where does it start? The set off venue is Grand Avenue, Smithfield Market Walkway (sponsored by Smithfield market) where there will be reserved space to park up whilst everyone assembles together. Royal Marines as well as the Director of Commando Spirit Sally-Anne will be present to wave us off.
Where does it finish? The finishing point is at the University of Brighton. The university is kindly providing us with free parking.
Are there any stops before Brighton? There will be a coffee stop at Crawley. Also, the Thistle hotel in Brighton will provide free refreshments upon arrival in Brighton.
What is the entrant’s fee? Entrant’s fee is £65 per vehicle. We are also looking for a suggested minimum donation of £200 per vehicle. For the entrant’s fee, the drivers will get a baseball cap, car stickers and car flags.
Is there any refreshments? There will be refreshments for everyone at the Thistle hotel (sponsored by the Thistle hotel) for when we arrive in Brighton.
How much do we have to raise? We are looking for a suggested minimum donation of £200 per vehicle. The team target is £4,000. Each person can set a target for themselves to that the team goal of raising £4,000 for the Royal Marines is realised.
What fundraising help do I get? Once you have signed up we will help you set up a fundraising page on JustGiving which you and your passengers should send out to all family, friends, and colleagues asking them to sponsor your efforts.
How do people sponsor my effort? They can give you cash at hand or donate through your JustGiving page.
