From the moment we got engaged, we have been overwhelmed by the messages of love and congratulations from all of our friends and family. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to spend our wedding day with all of our nearest and dearest. And even when the big day is over, our guests have departed and the hangovers have subsided, we'll still have each other. For that, we feel extremely lucky.
Age UK
Many people, particularly those in later life, are not so fortunate. 1.2 million older people in the UK suffer from chronic loneliness and isolation, most likely because they have lost a loved one, have had to move away from family and friends or are unable to interact with the rest of the community due to health or mobility issues.
Age UK helps combat loneliness by running befriending services, arranging outings, providing assistance with mobility and technology, and by helping to ensure as many older people as possible have enough money to eat and stay warm.
We have each other. We hope that any donations made in celebration of our wedding can contribute another small step towards making sure that everyone has someone.
The Hamlet Centre, Norwich
The Hamlet Centre provides recreational, educational and social opportunities for children and adults with profound disabilities and complex health needs. The Centre enriches the lives of families, children and adults at its two locations in Norwich. Established in 1972, the charity has evolved from its beginnings as a Toy Library into a charity offering a range of services for children and adults from birth.
Today it offers a wide range of high quality services to support over 500 families each year from across Norfolk and North Suffolk. These services promote integration and inclusion by breaking down barriers that often exist for people with disabilities. Chris spent two very enjoyable summers many years ago “working” at the Centre (taking the kids on days out!) and knows first-hand what good the Hamlet Centre does.
Wedding Gifts
We feel very fortunate that, after 5 years of living together, we just about have everything we need to get our married life off to a good start. So rather than a gift for us to celebrate our big day, we would be really grateful if you would consider donating something to either of our chosen charities, both of which are very close to our hearts.
