4 of us have decieded to take part in the Tour De Tendring, a 60 mile bike ride around north Essex.
We have chosen to raise money for Rethink Mental Ilness.
If you haven’t been directly affected by poor mental health, you probably know someone who has, although they might not have spoken about it. It can happen to anyone, out of the blue, starting a vicious cycle that could affect those things that matter most: your job, family, friends, or your home. Mental illness affects more people every year than cancer or heart disease - one in four of us in the UK will be affected by a mental health problem in any given year.
Rethink Mental Illness believes a better life is possible for people affected by mental illness and their carers and families. Since 1972 they have brought people together to support each other. Their 200 services and 130 volunteer support groups change lives and challenge attitudes about mental illness. Every year they help people across England to get through crises, live independently and realise they are not alone. With over 100 factsheets addressing every aspect of mental health – from specific issues to housing and workplace issues – help is easily available. Last year this information was accessed over 3 million times.
